FleetCo leads the way in equipment availability thanks to quality CRC

Ask anyone in the dry hire business what’s the main requirement for a successful hire and you’re likely to hear it’s the availability of equipment that makes or breaks a job.

FleetCo is listening to its customers and providing this certainty by using Thiess’ Component Rebuild Centres (CRC) components to help maintain its fleet of mining trucks, dozers, excavators and ancillary equipment.

On the back of a successful launch of our rebuild centre in Balikpapan Indonesia in 2012 we established the CRC located at Darra, Brisbane in 2015, to support our equipment on the East Coast of Australia quickly followed the following year by our facility in Hazelmere, Perth to support our West Coast Fleet. These facilities provide high quality component parts to FleetCo’s equipment nationwide. CRC Asset Manager David Dickin said fast turnaround times and cost efficiencies were some of the benefits of using the in-house service.

“The components that we assemble are identified as key components for our fleet that we need to ensure supply for our customers, and that we can produce for less than that of the OEM,” David said.

“This not only gives our customers peace of mind that we are in control of these key components, but also flows through to their pockets as we are able to keep our costs down.”

“We can also provide valuable feedback to our reliability teams”

A service led approach

The CRC currently employs forty people across two locations, supporting both the East and West Coast of Australia. In 2018 the team were recognised for their quality work, training and expertise by achieving a gold status awarded under the Timken bearing certification, this was again renewed this year, which shows the continued use of quality practices.

FleetCo’s Global Manager Darren Toyne said using the services of the CRC was an example of FleetCo putting the customer first at every step of the hire process.

“The CRC is another reason why customers feel comfortable partnering with FleetCo. They acknowledge that our business has very little risk associated with it and the quality of equipment sets us apart,” Darren said.

The CRC will soon send it’s 10,000th component to site and is currently undertaking full dozer rebuilds on the West Coast.
